Parfait Break- Welcome Back

After all that time you spent being productive after your last drink (here's the last blog), you feel your stomach rumble. Entrepreneurs deserve a layered delicious paise between the busiest parts of the day.

To keep you on your toes, here's an impromptu parfait that will keep you energized and ready to keep grinding away:

  • Greek Yogurt
  • Honey for sweetness
  • Blueberries and Banana
  • Chia Seeds (yay fiber!)
  • Almond butter mixed with peanut butter melted down and drizzled on top
  • Semi sweet chocolate melted and covering the top to make a sweet chocolate crack shell
  • A little granola

You just enjoyed the most filling and lovely yogurt bowl you’ve ever had. Back to coffee.

Fourth Drink: Reflect Roast

You settle down in a familiar place by the cafe window. It is a corner table, light filtering in and hitting you warmly. You take a moment to listen to the hum of the espresso machines, as the bitter-sweetness of your drink falls onto your tongue taking you back to your beginnings.

The confidence you once faked that everything would work in the end. You remind yourself that at one moment in time you wondered if you would have clients and if they would bother to come back. Your skills began lackluster, and now you would probably be a bit embarrassed to see what you used to make people pay for. Like everything though, without that younger you with a dream you would never be where you are today. She had passion, she had drive, she was inspired and willing to put in the work. She was scared, but she was resilient.

You have her to thank for your life falling into place perfectly now matter how messy it has been to get there. You think to yourself, “I don’t visit her often enough. She doesn't get the credit she deserves.”

You finish your drink by deciding next time you’re here, you’ll order it again and remember her.

Final Drink: Flourish Frappe

You’ve stayed for longer than you ever thought possible, one of the last people left in the cafe. Between drinks, you ended up actually getting some of those tasks done but you didn’t pressure yourself to do it immediately or constantly. You allowed yourself to take breaks, read your book you haven’t touched in a month, people watch, scrolled social media… and it didn’t feel wrong or like you needed to punish yourself for it.

The cafe lights are dimmer now, the espresso machine sighing out. You’re closing your laptop with a feeling or relief and a little bit of pride. You feel ready for the next day, not burned out and dreading. You didn't finish every single thing, but you finished enough. Sometimes enough is the sweetest blend on the menu.

You take the last sip of your drink, the ice having melted. It tastes different, comforting, duller, but still sweet. You slide your things into your bag, pick it up, and head for the door. You know with certainty you’ll be stopping back again at the Founders Foam.

If you can't tell, I was going for a little more fun with these two blogs! I wanted to do something a little more creative with the work life diaries, and try to work in tips into some more interesting reads. As some of you may now, i've been recovering from a major surgery and I think there is something so important about slowing down and letting yourself delve into your creative side. Sometimes getting tips for mindfulness can feel like a slog or regurgitation of things you already know, so I hope this format was a fun little reminder with some recipes and drink recommendations slipped in. If nothing else, I hope you visit a coffee shop soon :)
